Aid convoy enters Idlib via contact lines, coinciding with Russian air strikes

Today, Saturday, a new UN aid convoy entered the contact lines from the Assad regime-controlled areas to the liberated areas.

According to "Qasioun TV" correspondent in Idlib countryside, a new UN aid convoy entered, today, Saturday, through the Tarnaba crossing near the city of Saraqib, through the lines, in implementation of the UN Security Council resolution regarding the entry of UN aid into the area.

Our correspondent stated that the convoy included 16 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid, and arrived at the Tarnabah crossing in conjunction with Russian air strikes on the western countryside of Idlib.

The World Food Program had entered the first convoy across the lines since the Security Council announced the extension of the decision to enter aid across the border, on the fourth of last August.

The coordinators of the Syria response had confirmed that the convoy is similar to the first UN convoy that entered across the border, which raises fears of a simultaneous entry of humanitarian aid on the basis of a one-for-one principle.

The team clarified in a previous statement that since the announcement of the new United Nations resolution to introduce humanitarian aid, only two convoys crossed into the area, which indicates the great disregard for the increasing humanitarian needs, nearly a month after the resolution was implemented.

The team stressed that this humanitarian aid is insufficient and cannot be implemented, and the international community must find the necessary solutions before the end of the current mandate, especially with the passage of the first month of the resolution period and only five months remain until the expiration of the mandate mechanism.
