SDF announces the spread of cholera in eastern Syria...and sources confirm the death of 5 children in Deir Ezzor

The Autonomous Administration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that it had recorded cholera injuries and deaths in its areas of control in Raqqa and Deir Ezzor.

And according to what the Health Authority of the Autonomous Administration stated, yesterday, Saturday, a large number of cholera cases have been recorded in Raqqa and the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, confirming that it has recorded three deaths from this disease so far.

The authority called on international organizations and the World Health Organization to expedite providing the necessary support to curb the spread of cholera.

In the context, the local "Nahr Media Network" confirmed the death of five children, as young as 5 years old, as a result of the "epidemic" cholera disease, which has recently spread in Deir Ezzor Governorate, eastern Syria.

She added that the deceased children were from the town of Al-Sawa in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, and more than 120 injuries were recorded in different areas of the governorate, all of which suffer from severe diarrhea.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Health of the Interim Government announced, in a previous statement, the death of two people as a result of cholera infection in the northeastern regions of Syria, calling on health sector workers to report suspected cases and provide verification facilities, by communicating with the epidemiological surveillance system.
