The Syrian Network for Human Rights revealed the death of the young man, "Dyar Khalil Omar", under torture inside the prisons of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), after his arrest from Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo city.

The network said that "Dyar Khalil Omar", 19 years old, is from the village of Al-Basouta, affiliated to the city of Afrin, north of Aleppo governorate. Omar resides in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo city.

She added that members of the Syrian Democratic Forces arrested him on August 14, 2022, after summoning him to the National Security Office affiliated with it in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood.

The network indicated that Omar was arrested without any judicial warrant, as he was taken to one of the SDF detention centers in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, and he was also prevented from communicating with his family or appointing a lawyer.

She indicated that the victim's family, Diyar, received on 9-3-2022 a report from a SDF member informing them of Diyar's death, and when they visited the militia headquarters, they obtained a medical report stating that he had died since 8/31-2022 as a result of a lack of oxygen.
