The Fifth Corps militia is excavating antiquities in Deir ez-Zor on Russian orders

Local media sources revealed archaeological excavations carried out by the Russian-backed "Fifth Corps" militia in Deir ez-Zor, with the protection and guidance of the Russian forces.
According to local sources, elements of the "Fifth Corps" militia have recently begun excavations for antiquities in the archaeological "Jabal al-Sin" near the town of "Marat" in the northern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
The sources indicated that the militia is carrying out archaeological excavations in the aforementioned area, under the supervision of First Lieutenant "Abu Haider", a leader in the "Fifth Corps" who hails from the city of "Banias".
He added that the militia is working in excavations within the protection and supervision of the Russian forces, as the Russian forces provide protection for the militias and prevent the regime forces and Iranian militias from interfering with the excavation and drilling operations, which are supervised by Russian experts.
It is worth noting that the "Fifth Corps" militia, backed by Russia, aims to impose its influence in the region dominated by Iranian influence and presence in a number of areas in Deir ez-Zor and the eastern countryside of Homs.
