Response Coordinators: Warn of the danger of rising temperatures on the lives of camp residents

The Syria Response Coordinators team confirmed that the lives of children and women in the camps are still tragic, especially that their stay in the camps in light of the high temperatures, which threatens their lives.

According to a statement issued by the team, more than 1.8 million displaced people live in more than 1,633 camps, as these camps do not meet the requirements of dealing with various weather factors, in addition to the old and expired tents.

He added that this matter increases fears that many children and the elderly in the camps will suffer from heat stroke, the emergence of skin diseases, and fears of deaths among the displaced as a result of high heat, especially children.

He explained that many displaced people are still unable to return to their original areas, cities and towns, as a result of the destruction of their homes in the bombing of the Assad regime and Russia, in addition to the lack of basic infrastructure for services and the instability of the security situation there.

The team called on humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to secure the requirements of the displaced, especially water in light of the current conditions, and to expand humanitarian response operations in light of the inability of all the displaced to secure basic necessities due to the significant increase in their prices.

It is worth noting that the current high temperatures negatively affect northern Syria, in conjunction with difficult humanitarian conditions facing the displaced Syrians, especially in the 1,633 camps scattered in the region, inhabited by more than 1.8 million displaced civilians.
