A young man in his thirties died by drowning at dawn on Wednesday, August 31, while going swimming in "Wadi Qandil" in the countryside of Lattakia.

According to local sources loyal to the Assad regime, the young man was born in 1992, and he was accompanied by a number of people coming from Aleppo governorate. When they went to the sea in the “Wadi Qandil” area, they disembarked in a place where there are no chalets, beach investments, or even restaurants.

She added, when the young man went swimming at three thirty in the morning, those who were with him found out that the young man was drowning, and as soon as they reached him, he was dead.

The sources claimed that if the young man was swimming in an area where there are other people or investments, he might be rescued before he died, and confirmed that the young man's body had been transferred to Tishreen University Hospital in Latakia.

It is worth noting that Lattakia Governorate constantly records cases of drowning in the summer, for various reasons, including the lack of neglect by the relevant authorities of the Assad regime, the lack of mastery of swimming and venturing into the sea and the sea currents that drag a person, which leads to drowning in most cases, even if the person is proficient in swimming.
