SDF raids exchange offices in Raqqa due to allegations of dealing with Turkey

The SDF launched a security campaign against currency exchange and money transfer in the city of Raqqa, which it controls in eastern Syria.

And local sources indicated that the "SDF" militia raided three money exchange offices and money transfer shops on Mansour Street in the city of Raqqa, on charges of dealing with people working in the Turkish intelligence.

The raids targeted the Al-Safrany exchange shop, and the Al-Fouad and Al-Afidli exchange offices, in addition to investigating their owners and confiscating money and files.

The raid was carried out by the General Security Service of the Autonomous Administration, on charges of facilitating financial transactions with individuals accused of doing business with Turkey.

The shops were closed suddenly without prior notice to their owners, and the sources confirmed the arrest of the money changers for several hours before releasing them.

Public Security Agency patrols closed many of the offices whose owners hid immediately after the start of the campaign, and found that they had threatened to leak their names at security checkpoints if they did not turn themselves in immediately.

The Qasd militia repeatedly launches arrest campaigns under various pretexts, including shops in Turkish currency other than the Syrian pound, although the work of exchange offices requires trading in dollars and other foreign currencies.
