SDF arrests several young men from the city of Manbij

On Tuesday, August 30, the Syrian Democratic Forces launched a campaign of arrests in the town of Manbij in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.

According to local sources, the Internal Security Forces, known as the "Asayish", arrested six young men at the "Al-Sanajah" roundabout checkpoint in the city of Manbij, east of Aleppo, and took them to a military barracks for refusing to perform compulsory service.

In another context, the SDF militia raided several houses in the city of Manbij in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo, and arrested three young men during the raid, and took them to an unknown location, which suggests that the arrest was for the purpose of forced recruitment into the militias.

The sources added that the people of the town tried to bypass the barriers that were set up, until the militia intensified the arrests, which continue to this day.

She pointed out that the SDF's measures were not limited to recruitment, but also included imposing taxes on foodstuffs and goods entering the city and arresting civilians based on false news and without evidence.

Most of the arrest campaigns take place against the backdrop of the forced recruitment of young people, which the "SDF" imposed on the population in the areas under its control in north and northeastern Syria.
