ISIS claims responsibility for an attack on SDF positions in Deir ez-Zor

On Tuesday, August 30, the Islamic State (ISIS) announced the launch of an operation against members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, eastern Syria.

In an official statement published by Amaq News Agency, ISIS said that state officials attacked the headquarters of the "SDF" forces with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades, injuring a number of members and damaging equipment.

Sources confirmed that a military base of the SDF, which was stationed on the banks of the Euphrates River in the village of Al-Zar in the Al-Baseera district, east of Deir ez-Zor, was hit by three rockets, which led to the injury of a number of SDF members, in addition to material damage.

In a related context, the organization's "Amaq" agency issued a statement earlier, saying that the organization's members "attacked a four-wheel drive vehicle belonging to the SDF, with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades, in the town of Al-Zar, 35 km east of Deir ez-Zor."

A week ago, a leader of the "SDF" survived an attack with heavy machine guns, on the town of Al-Shuhail in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

The countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which is under the control of the SDF, is witnessing a remarkable activity by ISIS, which, despite the security campaigns in the area, is attacking SDF members and civilians in it.
