Warning of an impending humanitarian catastrophe in northern Syria

Humanitarian organizations and activists have warned that stopping support for the health sector in northwestern Syria will mean closing most hospitals.

Local media said that the calls of the concerned authorities in the health sector to re-support health centers and hospitals that provide free treatment to the population and the displaced, have not been answered by the supporting authorities.

The sources confirmed that the people of the liberated north were severely affected by the health sector crisis in the region after suspending support for 30 hospitals and health centers.

She explained that the bombing of Assad's forces and the Russian occupation caused a large number of medical facilities and hospitals to go out of service, and the issue of disrupting support for the health sector has emerged during the past two years.

The cessation of support for hospitals comes at a time when the liberated areas are characterized by widespread poverty, deteriorating living conditions for the population, and high prices, which prevent citizens from seeking treatment in private hospitals.

It should be noted that the Assad regime has pursued in the areas outside its control a systematic war targeting vital facilities, medical centers, and educational facilities, which has led to most of them being out of service.
