An assassination operation targeting those accused of submitting security reports against the victims of the Rankos massacre in late 2020

One person was killed and another person working as informants for the Assad regime was killed in the town of Rankos in the western Qalamoun in Damascus countryside, at the hands of unknown gunmen, on Wednesday, August 31st.

According to the "Voice of the Capital" website, two unidentified people shot two of Rankos town's residents, as the two targeted people are accused of submitting security reports against the young men who were killed during the "Rankos massacre" in late 2020.

He added that the assassination took place at 2:30 at night, near the entrance to the western neighborhood of Rankos town.

He pointed out that two masked people were directly targeted with bullets, called "Mahmoud Shaheen", nicknamed "Al-Mukhtar", and his nephew, "Muhammad Shaheen", who is a volunteer in the ranks of the Assad regime's police.

And he indicated that the assassination resulted in the killing of "Mohammed Shaheen", aged 22, in addition to the injury of "Mokhtar Shaheen", aged 45, who was transferred to the "Al Sayeda" hospital in the city of Sednaya.

He explained that "Mukhtar Shaheen" works as an informant for the Air Force Intelligence branch in Rankous town, and he had been subjected to a previous assassination attempt, but he survived.

It is worth noting that on Sunday, August 28, the leader of the Baath Brigades militia of the Assad regime and close to the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, "Mohammed Daas", was assassinated in the town of "Al-Tawani" in the countryside of Al-Qutayfa in the Damascus countryside, by unknown gunmen.
