Al-Assad regime launches a campaign to pursue bale sellers in a Damascus market

Loyal local sources reported that the regime's customs launched a campaign to pursue used clothing stores in Al-Atfa'a area in the capital, Damascus, and within hours confiscated hundreds of tons of goods, and imposed fines on their owners in the hundreds of millions.

The official Tishreen newspaper said that a large number of customs officers raided the bale shops with a sudden campaign that lasted hours, in a campaign that the merchants called "breaking the bone", according to Voice of the Capital website.

50 million pounds, in addition to the goods lost by other shop owners, and she pointed out that the total fines amounted to one billion and 200 million pounds.

The newspaper pointed out that the last campaign carried out by customs against bale shops was 3 years ago, but it wasn't that severe.

It is noteworthy that a large proportion of Syrians have become dependent on bale shops to secure their clothing, as a result of the successive economic crises, high prices and lack of income for a large segment of the population.

At the time, about 90% of Syrians live below the poverty line.
