The Interim Government announces the formation of a committee to monitor books and curricula in northern Syria

The Syrian Interim Government announced the formation of a committee to monitor and organize school curricula in the liberated areas, after spreading pictures of the embodiment of the Noble Prophet in school books.

The government said that the committee will undertake the task of monitoring, developing and scrutinizing educational curricula, which are being worked on, whether in schools, institutes, centers, organizations, and all governmental or private educational institutions.

It added that the committee's tasks are to revise and develop curricula to conform to the standards and values that express the Syrian society.

It indicated that the committee was assigned to continuously evaluate the role of the curricula in deepening students' understanding, in addition to defining teaching strategies and various educational activities and following up the auditing and monitoring of curricula in the various stages of study.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian Interim Government confirmed that it is following with great interest the issue of textbooks “The Prophet’s Biography,” copies of which appeared in some liberated areas, as it instructed its institutions to withdraw the distributed copies and destroy them immediately.
