Wagner intensifies its deployment in Palmyra and seizes civilian homes

Yesterday, Tuesday, local sources confirmed the spread of the Russian “Wagner” militia in several areas in Palmyra, rural Homs.

Watan FM website stated that about 100 Wagner militia members arrived at Palmyra Military Airport from the Russian Hmeimim base, where they seized several buildings in Al-Maalef and Western Al-Jamiat neighborhoods.

The source pointed out that the Wagner militia converted the buildings it seized into military headquarters, knowing that most of their owners are outside Syria.

It added that the spread of the Russian militia came in areas dominated by Iranian militias.

It is noteworthy that many Syrian regions are witnessing a competition for influence between Russia and Iran, including the villages and towns of eastern Syria, the desert and southern Syria.
