Because of the weather conditions... Appeals to provide urgent aid to the camps in northern Syria

The “Syria Response Coordinators” team launched an appeal to humanitarian organizations and committees, in conjunction with information about a new air depression in northwestern Syria.

The team said in a statement published yesterday, Saturday, that since the beginning of the current winter, the area has been subjected to more than one rainstorm that has caused significant damage within those camps.

It called on humanitarian organizations and bodies working in the region to work to provide urgent and immediate assistance to the displaced people living in camps and informal gatherings located in northwestern Syria, especially that the response of humanitarian organizations didn’t exceed 25% of the previous damage.

It called on all humanitarian organizations and committees to contribute effectively to securing the needs of the displaced within the camps in general, and to work to provide the necessary services for the weakest groups (children, women, the elderly).

The statement stressed the need to work on repairing previous damages within those camps, repairing sewage and rainwater networks, securing the necessary insulation to prevent rainwater from entering the tents, and working on paving roads within the camps and the new and old gatherings in general.

The team called for lifting the state of emergency for all organizations and associations operating in the area, in anticipation of possible new damage within the camps.

It also appealed to all donors that provide humanitarian support in northwestern Syria to contribute urgently and immediately to the requirements of the needs of the displaced within those camps and gatherings.

It is noteworthy that thousands of displaced people within the camps and informal gatherings in the area were affected during the previous rains.
