The coalition calls on the international community to hold Al-Assad regime accountable for its crimes

The Secretary-General of the National Opposition Coalition, Haitham Rahma, affirmed that the international disregard for the chemical weapons and arsenal hidden by the Syrian regime constitutes a major threat to millions of Syrians and neighboring countries, stressing what was stated in the 98th monthly report of the Director-General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons on the regime's chemical program.
"Rahma" said in a statement issued by the coalition that the recent report issued by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, which confirms the Assad regime's use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people, imposes on the international community the need to build a fair international legal mechanism capable of monitoring and holding the regime accountable for its use of internationally prohibited weapons and to prevent no protection for him.
He pointed out that the Syrian regime was and is still responding to UN resolutions with more massacres, crimes and the use of chemical weapons.
He added that human rights reports documented the regime's implementation of more than 184 chemical weapons attacks after Security Council Resolution 2118 issued in 2013, and more than 170 times after Security Council Resolutions 2209 and 2235 issued in 2015.
He also stressed that the international community and the Security Council have a legal and moral responsibility that requires action to ensure that criminals do not escape accountability, and to activate the international accountability files of regime officials, led by Bashar al-Assad, for international accountability for war criminals.
