More than 600 Syrians move from regime areas to opposition areas daily

Opposition security sources confirmed that the number of Syrians arriving through “smuggling” corridors from regime-controlled areas to opposition-controlled areas in northwestern Syria ranges from 400 to 600 people per day.

Al-Massad said, according to Syria TV website, that the number sometimes reaches a thousand people per day, and in many cases the numbers decrease due to the military tension that occurs on the contact lines.

It explained that the arrivals come from different Syrian governorates, including the southern, central and coastal regions, and most of them are young people.

According to families who have recently arrived in opposition areas, the cost of the “smuggling journey across the lines” ranges between 1,000 and 1,500 US dollars per person, and two-thirds of the amount must be paid to offices in regime-controlled areas linked to “Fourth Division” led by Major General Maher, brother of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, while a third of the amount goes to the opposition factions.

The Syrians cross from the regime areas to the opposition areas through four main smuggling corridors, three of which are on the contact lines in the countryside of Aleppo, the most prominent of which is a corridor in Nubl area north of Aleppo, along with As-Sukariya corridor in the countryside of al-Bab city, and a crossing between Jarablus and Manbij, in addition to a fourth crossing in the area Miznaz overlapping between Aleppo and Idlib.

The sources pointed out that large numbers of Syrians coming from the regime's areas to the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib during the last two months were able to enter through the illegal passages to Turkey, and from there to European countries, while another section remains in the region, especially those who have relatives.
