A prominent leader of "Lebanese Hezbollah" militia was killed yesterday after being shot by unknown persons today in "Kanaker" town in the western Damascus countryside.

Zaman Al-Wasl website quoted its sources there as saying: "Unidentified persons fired four bullets at the leader through pistols fitted with a silencer, killing him instantly, while he was driving his Chevrolet CC car."

The website indicated that the incident occurred while the leader was leaving one of the militia's military headquarters on the outskirts of the town and heading to the nearby village of "Al-Nafoor".

He added that the leader who was assassinated is responsible for some of the militia's headquarters and warehouses in the area, he is a 39-year-old Lebanese national.
