A source in Damascus Countryside Police Command announced on Sunday evening that one person was killed and 9 others were injured in a fire in Pearl of the Orient Hotel in the city of Sayeda Zeinab in Damascus countryside governorate.

Damascus Countryside Police Command did not mention the cause of the fire, while activists published pictures that documented the flames on the roof of the hotel.

Bloggers said that the fire broke out in the fuel tanks on the roof of the hotel, and it was brought under control by firefighters, according to Russia Today.
