Russia begins construction of a helipad in Al-Qamishli city

Local sources announced that the Russian forces began constructing a helipad for military helicopters inside the security square in Al-Qamishli city to be attached to the Russian coordination center, coinciding with the arrival of Russian reinforcements to the square from Al-Qamishli Airport.
According to "Ain Al-Furat" network, the yard of the old French barracks in the middle of the security square in Al-Qamishli witnessed yesterday, Saturday, the arrival of about 15 drilling and construction machinery, and work began on planning and building a helipad for helicopters.
The network added that the construction of the airfield coincides with the construction of a Russian coordination center near it, under the supervision of the local Russian-backed Fifth Corps militia.
It indicated that the airstrip is scheduled to accommodate four military helicopters at the same time, at a time when the new coordination center will receive the organization of ground and air military instructions between the Russian forces and the Syrian regime forces in the security square in Al-Qamishli.
It is noteworthy that the Russian forces are seeking to expand their influence in the areas of eastern Syria at the expense of the Iranian militias that are widely deployed in the region.
