Moaz Al-Khatib attacks the Syrian Constitutional Committee

The former head of the opposition "Syrian National Coalition", Ahmed Moaz al-Khatib, attacked the Syrian Constitutional Committee, declaring that he would boycott every party or individual who supports the Constitutional Committee.

In a post he wrote on his personal Facebook page, Al-Khatib described the Constitutional Committee as a “deep poison,” noting that “the international agreement was to establish a transitional governing body, and then they invented the trick of Al-Sallal and made the first governing body of it, then the deception of overturning priorities occurred and the Constitutional Committee became The priority of priorities!”, as he put it.

Al-Khatib explained that "the focus was on the committee, prompted by the regime's allies, to gain time," noting that "it is a shame that the regime deals with it in an arrogant manner and publicly declares that his delegation does not represent the regime's government, while the opposition delegation is keen on it as an orphan is looking for a mother who has lost her."

He considered that "there are soft arrangements that then become rougher for normalization with the regime, overcoming the obstacles and exhausting the Syrians politically, psychologically, and financially, to accept the broth prepared to buy time until the opposition to the regime grows weaker or the parties supporting them in the international arenas become preoccupied with the constant pressure."

He added, "After exhaustion and the disintegration of forces, they (the opposition) are told that there is no alternative to the regime that will carry out some reforms...meaning a progressive national front model 2021."

Al-Khatib considered that the constitutional committee "as a whole is poorly functioning and bears the fingerprints of quotas and regional and international political interventions more than the fingerprints of professional specialists."
