8 members of Liwa al-Quds were killed in an ambush in Homs desert

Local sources reported that a number of members of the Russian-backed Liwa al-Quds militia were killed in an attack by gunmen said to be affiliated with ISIS in the desert region, east of Homs.

“Ain Al-Furat” Network reported that ISIS launched an attack on patrols and sites affiliated with the Russian-backed Liwa al-Quds militia in the Syrian desert, killing a number of members and wounding others.

The attack began, according to what Orient website monitored, with an ambush for the organization, during which 7 explosive devices were detonated, followed by using heavy machine guns and TOW anti-armor missiles.

Which led to killing 8 militia members and injury others, amid the inability of Al-Assad forces to support those who fell in the ambush for fear of falling into another ambush on the road to “T3” station in the vicinity of Palmyra, east of Homs.

Especially that the attack lasted for about an hour, during which the militia members who were on board 6 military vehicles were unable to confront or withdraw due to the severity of the ambush.

According to the source, during their attack, the organization’s elements managed to destroy a military vehicle with a “TOW” thermal missile, so that the Russian warplanes intervened and carried out more than 11 air raids on sites in the Syrian desert, followed by sending combat helicopters from Palmyra Military Airport to the area,

After that, ISIS elements withdrew, while the dead and wounded were taken to Palmyra Military Hospital.
