The President of the Syrian regime, Bashar al-Assad, issued a package of decrees to dissolve a number of municipal councils in Damascus countryside and As-Suwayda governorates.

The Ministry of Local Administration stated that the decrees dissolved a town council in As-Suwayda, and the councils of 3 towns in Damascus countryside, claiming that this comes within the framework of correcting work, combating corruption and addressing negligence in providing services.

The decrees included dissolution Arman town council in As-Suwayda governorate, Ashrafieh Sahnaya Municipal Council, Madaya Municipal Council in Damascus Governorate, and Qaysa Municipal Council in Damascus Countryside Governorate.
