Local sources revealed that the capital, Damascus, witnessed during the last hours suspicious military movements of the Iranian militias between As-Sayeda Zainab area and Damascus International Airport.

Al-Durar Al-Shamiya network quoted private sources as saying: "Many heavy vehicles belonging to the Iranian militias left this morning, Tuesday, from Al-Hujaira area near As-Sayeda Zainab to Damascus International Airport."

The sources added that Al-Hujaira area is considered one of the most prominent strongholds of the Iranian militias in Damascus, especially the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

It pointed out that this movement is new of its kind, as such a convoy has never been seen heading towards Damascus International Airport.

It stressed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards control Damascus International Airport and own several weapons depots inside, in addition to establishing several military points in its vicinity.

It is noteworthy that these moves come in conjunction with the intensification of the competition for influence in Syria between Moscow and Tehran, in addition to Israel's intensification of its air raids on Iranian sites in areas under the control of the Assad regime.
