SDC announces its intention to hold a conference for the democratic opposition

A member of the Joint Presidency of the Syrian Democratic Council, SDC Sihanouk Dibo, announced that the Autonomous Administration intends to hold a national conference for the Syrian Democratic opposition, according to the Kurdish Hawar Agency.

The Kurdish "Hawar" agency quoted Dibo as saying: "In the first place we are thinking of holding a conference for the Syrian National Democratic Opposition, we want to create a real group, not a formality."

The Kurdish official referred to the statements of the head of the regime, Bashar al-Assad, in which he said recently that Syria will not return to before 2011 and can be governed by a central administration, noting that the regime has not taken any practical steps after this statement yet.

He added that decentralization at this time is a positive step, pointing out that local administrative decentralization is part of self-management, but it is not a substitute for self-management, as he described it.

He stressed that so far, no practical meeting has taken place between SDC and the regime's government, explaining that the administration is still open to such meetings.

It is noteworthy that SDF announced earlier that it had agreed to hold a dialogue with the regime's government, at the request of Russia.
