Local sources reported that the regime's National Defense Militia arrested a number of young men who work in fishing, in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, on charges of smuggling.

According to the local "Ain al-Furat" network, the arresting took place through flying checkpoints and patrols deployed by the militia on the banks of the Euphrates River.

The network added that the militia launched the campaign that targeted the fishermen after they finished fishing in the waters of the river, and they were driven towards the National Defense Center in the town of al-Tabani, west of Deir Ezzor.

It pointed out that the militia members opened fire on the river's waters, during the arresting campaign, to terrorize the fishermen and prevent them from escaping towards the opposite bank under the control of "SDF".

It is noteworthy that the National Defense Militia arrested 10 young men and framed them smuggling and sabotaging the economy in order to pressure them and their families to obtain sums of money in exchange for their release from detention.
