Dozens of civilians demonstrated today, Saturday, in the areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir Ezzor countryside, to demand the release of detainees.

The local newspaper, Jisr, said that the people in the town of Abu Hamam, located in Shaitat area in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Sharqi, staged a demonstration this morning, calling for the release of detainees in SDF prisons.

It added that the demonstrators also demanded the release of media activists who had been arrested by "SDF", including media activist Ali Saleh al-Wakaa.

It is noteworthy that SDF-controlled areas in northern and eastern Syria witness from time to time popular demonstrations due to the policies of repression, arrests and poor living conditions.
