Turkish soldiers killed and others wounded in an explosive device explosion in Idlib

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced, in a statement issued today, Saturday, that two soldiers were killed and 3 others wounded, in an attack on their patrol during a combing operation in the de-escalation zone in Idlib, northwest of Syria.

For his part, Qasioun reporter said: An explosive device exploded in a military convoy of the Turkish forces after last midnight, while it was passing on Idlib-Bab al-Hawa road near the town of Kafriya, north of Idlib.

He added that the targeting caused deaths and injuries among the Turkish soldiers, who were transported by armored ambulances to the Turkish side through Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey north of Idlib.

While no party has claimed responsibility for targeting the convoy until now, the relevant and security authorities in the area are searching for any evidence that would lead them to the party that planted and detonated the bomb.

It is noteworthy that in May 2017, Turkey, Russia and Iran announced that they had reached an agreement to establish a "de-escalation zone" in Idlib, as part of Astana meetings related to the Syrian issue.
