Yesterday, Friday, Russian mercenaries deployed destroyed Russian vehicles in an ambush in the desert of Homs Governorate, local sources reported.

Pointing out that this coincided with the announcement of the Russian Defense Ministry on Friday that one of its soldiers was killed by an explosive device that targeted an armored vehicle on Homs Road.

The ministry claimed that the vehicle was escorting a humanitarian aid convoy, but the photos published by the mercenaries did not show any humanitarian convoys, and the explosion appears from the pictures that it targeted more than one military vehicle and not one, as stated in the statement of the Russian Defense Ministry.

The mercenaries said that the dead man was Lieutenant-Colonel Alexei Schneider, a member of the Russian army forces.

Russian forces are deployed with groups of mercenaries such as "Wagner" in the Syrian desert near Palmyra and Homs, and they have many military headquarters there.

According to the Syrian opposition TV website, the Russian forces say that they are fighting ISIS cells in the desert, and the organization has not yet claimed an ambush by the Russian forces on Thursday.
