Ilham Ahmed in the first comment on the possibility of America's withdrawal from northeastern Syria

Elham Ahmed, chief executive of the Syrian Democratic Council, the political part of SDF, said that she had informed the acting US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Joey Hood, that if America decided to withdraw from northeastern Syria, it should be within a time frame and accordance with a well thought out plan.
"We will have reached lasting political solutions and understandings about the fate of the region," she said.
Ahmed added in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that she also informed Hood that the American presence in northeastern Syria is a guarantee for reaching political understandings, after he confirmed in a virtual meeting that the American forces will not withdraw from Syria and will continue their operations to fight ISIS.
She indicated, according to what was reported by the opposition Orient Net website, that Hood renewed Washington's commitment to keep its forces east of the Euphrates, to help the Syrians reach a political settlement to implement Resolution 2254, stressing that she told the American side: "The political solution in Syria has not come yet, and your presence is a guarantee for reaching political understanding and in the absence of the American sponsor, there will be dangers to the future of the region in the event that he decides to withdraw,” as she said.
