Al-Assad regime arrests 4 people in Damascus on charges of dealing in other than the Syrian pound

The Ministry of the Interior of the regime's government said that it had arrested four people in the city of Damascus on charges of "dealing with other than the Syrian pound and transferring money illegally."

The ministry stated in a statement published on its Facebook page on Thursday that "the Criminal Security Department, in coordination with the judicial police of the Central Bank of Syria, seized several offices in the city of Damascus dealing in other than the Syrian pound, and arrested four people."

The statement referred to "the confiscation of sums of money in the Syrian currency, US dollar, and gold coins," explaining that "by interrogating them, they confessed to working in money exchange, transferring money illegally, and dealing in other than the Syrian pound."

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Interior in the government of the regime warned the Syrians in January 2020, against dealing in other than the Syrian pound,

It said, "It will strictly pursue dealers in foreign currencies and manipulators of their exchange rates, and will intensify its patrols to monitor companies, shops and people to suppress this phenomenon, apprehend violators and take the necessary legal measures against them."
